Angela Snell Speaks to Rotary Club
Director of Public Facilities for the Town of Shrewsbury, Angela Snell, spoke with Club members on March 12th. Angela, best known for her longtime role with Parks and Recreation/Cemetery expanded her role after the retirement of long time Public Buildings department head Bob Cox. Angela's role has expanded as she now oversees both the Public Buildings and the Parks and Recreation/Cemetery divisions. Angela and her staff are responsible for maintaining all 19 town buildings, 19 public parks, the Donahue Rowing Center, 6 athletic fields and the Mountain View Cemetery.

Angela spoke about her work with Special Olympics and the programs that are offered throughout the year for participants. The men's basketball team successfully represented the USA in Abu Dhabi earning a silver medal! Adult volunteers are always needed to keep the program running strong and anyone interested can contact Angela for more information.

In addition to maintaining our public buildings and recreational spaces, Angela and her staff are busy preparing for the upcoming spring and summer season. Planning for the Memorial Day Parade is underway and US Navy Reserve Officer Jeff Chin is this year's guest speaker. The Girl Scouts will once again be placing flags in Mountain View Cemetery to mark veterans' graves.

Town-wide Clean Up Day is planned for Saturday, April 6th. Members from our Club will be cleaning up Rotary Park from 8am-noon that day. The annual Kid's Equipment Day is planned for June 1st at the town garage on South Street, summer concerts are being planned in conjunction with the Friends of the Shrewsbury Library for Dean Park, and registration is open for spring recreation programs.

With so much going on, we were fortunate that Angela had time to join us for our meeting and look forward to all that she will bring to her newly expanded role.
